  • Parakram Diwas will be celebrated annually to pay tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's contributions to the nation
  • The government had decided to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary year starting from January 23, 2021 in a “befitting manner at national and international level”.

2. Bhawana Kanth to become the 1st woman fighter pilot to take part in Republic Day parade

  • Flight lieutenant Bhawana Kanth is also one of the first women fighter pilots in the IAF
  • She will be a part of the Indian Air Force's (IAF's) tableau that will showcase mock-ups of the light combat aircraft, light combat helicopter and the Sukhoi-30 fighter plane

3. Union Health Minister dedicates the new Burns and Plastic Surgery Block of AIIMS Delhi to Sushruta,"The Father of Plastic Surgery"

  • This Block is equipped to deal with approximately 15,000 burn emergencies and 5000 burn admissions a year

4. Dr Viswanathan Shanta, chairperson of Chennai's Cancer Institute, passes away

  • Shantha has won several awards including the Padma Shri in 1986, the Magsaysay Award in 2005, the Padma Bhushan in 2006 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016

5. Tripura celebrates 43rd Kokborok Day

  • Kokborok is the native language of Tripura, spoken for thousands of years among the Tripuri community. ‘Kok’ means language and ‘Borok’ means people.
