1. HSBC inaugurates international banking unit at GIFT City in Gujarat
- HSBC is one of the earliest global financial institutions setting up a branch at India's GIFT City and was the first bank to get a licence from the newly set up International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA)
- HSBC has been present in the country for more than 160 years and its fourth branch globally was opened in India
- HSBC operates in all of the leading international financial service hubs in the world, and looks forward to the development of GIFT City as a globally competitive international financial centre
2. Maharashtra best state in justice delivery; Uttar Pradesh worst
- The second edition of the India Justice Report found that Telangana has the highest share of women judges at 46.2 percent, while Jharkhand has the lowest at 12.1 percent in subordinate courts. Five states, it said, did not have a single woman judge in their high courts as of August 2020

- 1 in 5 people around the world is affected by NTDs. India is home to the world’s largest absolute burden of at least 11 of these major neglected tropical diseases
4. Uttar Pradesh's Ram Temple tableau on Republic Day bags first prize
- The Ram Temple tableau evoked strong reactions from the public. It is reported that the people present to witness the parade at the Rajpath applauded when the model of the upcoming Ram Temple in Ayodhya made an appearance. The tableau provided the glimpse of the temple that began its construction recently
- As for the setting of the tableau, it showcased Maharishi Valmiki composing the Ramayana, followed by a model replica of the Ram temple that showed how it would look after its construction. It is for the first time that the Uttar Pradesh tableau showcased a glimpse of the Ram Temple that is being built in Ayodhya
5. India ranks 86 of 98 countries in Covid response index, New Zealand, Vietnam, Taiwan in top 3
- Performance index compiled by the Sydney-based Lowy Institute, New Zealand handled the pandemic more effectively than any other country in the world, while Brazil sits at the bottom of the list.
- New Zealand was closely followed by Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and Cyprus, while the US was the fifth-worst performing country
- China was not included in the study because all of its testing rates are not publicly available
