1. Indian Army & DRDO develop India's 1st Swadeshi machine pistol 'ASMI'
- The weapon, named ASMI, means "Pride", "Self-respect", and "Hard Work".
- ASMI fires the in-service 9mm ammunition and sports an upper receiver made from aircraft-grade Aluminium and lower receiver from carbon fibre
- ASMI has huge potential in Armed forces as a personal weapon for heavy weapon detachments, commanders, tank and aircraft crews, drivers/dispatch riders, radio/radar operators, Closed Quarter Battle, counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations etc.
- A production cost under Rs. 50,000 each

3. India's first air taxi service launched in Chandigarh
- The air taxi service in its first phase will function from Chandigarh to Hisar.
- The service will be operated from Chandigarh under UDAN scheme of the central government
4. World’s oldest known cave painting found in Indonesia
- The cave painting uncovered in South Sulawesi consists of a figurative depiction of a warty pig, a wild boar that is endemic to this Indonesian island
- A dating specialist, Mr Aubert had identified a calcite deposit that had formed on top of the painting, and used Uranium-series isotope dating to determine that the deposit was 45,500 years old
5. India Meteorological Department (IMD) celebrates its 146th Foundation Day on-15th january 2021
- IMD is one of the oldest, scientific service organizations in the country, in existence well before Independence
