AR Rahman launches Tokyo Olympics cheer song "Hindustani Way".

  • Composer AR Rahman and singer Ananya Birla have collaborated on a new single titled "Hindustani Way"
  • To cheer the Indian Olympic contingent in Tokyo this year.
  • Birla has lent his voice to the song, with Rahman Records working as a composer and producer.



India's 1st five star hotel built over railway track has been built in Gandhinagar.

  • The 5-star hotel will be run by the Leela Group of hotels, as per reports.
  • It will be constructed on pillars, above the railway tracks in Gandhinagar railway station.
  • The luxury hotel will have 300 rooms in total, with the ground floor 22-metres above land.
  • It is spread over 7,400 square meters and has been built at a cost of ₹790 crore.



Union Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of 16 National Highway projects in Manipur.

  • It will provide all-weather connectivity to the northeastern state with the rest of India and neighboring countries.
  • The projects are worth Rs 4,148 crore and the total length is 298 km.
  • These highway projects will boost the industrial, agriculture, and socio-economic progress of the region.



The central government has increased the dearness allowance of central employees from 17% to 28 %.

  • This will come into effect from 1 July 2021.
  • The increase in DA and DR will put an additional annual burden of Rs 34,401 crore on the exchequer.
  • The government had put on hold the DA hike, which was due from January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021, as the coronavirus dented its revenue.



PM Modi inaugurated the International Cooperation and Convention Center "Rudrakash" in Varanasi, UP.

  • It has been built with the help of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
  • VICCC has been given the name of Rudraksha in recognition of the ancient city's association with Lord Shiva.
  • 108 Rudraksha have been installed in this convention center and its roof is in the shape of Shiva Linga.
  • Modi will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several development projects worth over Rs 1,500 crore.
  • including a 100-bed MCH wing in BHU, multi-level parking at Godauliya,
  • Ro-Ro vessels for tourism development on river Ganga and
  • A three-lane flyover bridge on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway.
