IIT-Madras has developed an AI algorithm to find cancer-causing mutations.

Researchers at IIT Madras have developed an AI tool called NBDriver (neighbourhood driver) for use in analysing cancer-causing mutations in cells.
Artificial intelligence-based mathematical model to identify cancer-causing changes in cells.
The algorithm uses a relatively unexplored technique of leveraging DNA structure to pinpoint genetic changes responsible for cancer progression.
Cancer is mainly caused by the uncontrolled growth of cells driven by genetic changes.
While Cell mutation is a common phenomenon, with only a few mutations causing cancer. They are called driver mutations.

The two winning organizations from India out of the ten winners globally are— Aadhimalai Pazhangudiyinar Producer Company Limited and Snehakunja Trust.
