India's lightest and Pune's first metro train was unveiled in Italy.

  • Titagarh Firema was awarded the contract to design, manufacture and supply 34 trains of three coaches each to MahaMetro on 12 September 2019.
  • Its first train will be delivered by December 2021.
  • The delivery of all 34 trains is scheduled for March 2024.
  • The Pune Metro has two corridors, namely the 17.4 km long PCMC - Swargate with 14 stations and the 15.7 km long Vanaj - Ramwadi with 16 stations.





Bengaluru-based SElCO Solar Light Pvt Ltd has come forward to launch solar beds for people with spinal cord injuries.

  • The company has donated two beds initially to the Association of People with Disability.
  • The bed is designed for those who have vertebral fractures and are confined to the bed.
  • Deficiency in care or neglect in treatment can cause pressure on the back of such patients and cause ulcers on the skin.
  • The bed, modeled on the water bed, can operate for 24 hours using electricity generated through solar energy.
  • The cost of the solar bed including the solar panel and battery is Rs 45,000 with 5 years warranty.





Myanmar military recently extended the state of emergency for two years.

  • The general, who took power in a coup in Myanmar in February, described himself as prime minister and said emergency rule could now extend until August 2023.
  • In an hour-long speech, Min Aung Hlaing promised to hold "free and fair multi-party elections", but removed the "terrorists" to the elected party.





Gujarat ranks top in the country in terms of vaccinations per million people.

  • As many as 5 lakh 17 thousand people have been vaccinated against the population of one million in the state.
  • Under the statewide vaccination campaign, more than 3.32 crore vaccine doses have been given in the state so far.
  • In the month of July alone, more than 75 lakh vaccinations have been done.





HDFC Bank launched "Dukandar Overdraft Scheme" to help shopkeepers and merchants to ease cash crunch.

  • The Dukandar Overdraft Scheme by HDFC Bank is aimed at helping shopkeepers and merchants ease their cash crunch.
  • According to the bank, retailers operating for a minimum of three years are eligible for the scheme by providing six months bank statement from any bank.
  • HDFC Bank will approve an overdraft limit from a minimum of Rs 50,000 to a maximum of Rs 10 lakhs based on the statements.
  • Interestingly, HDFC Bank won’t seek collateral security, business financials, and income tax returns from retailers who apply for the scheme.
