  • Amul, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has moved up to 18th position in Rabobank's list of Global Top 20 Dairy Companies for 2021.
  • Amul has achieved an annual turnover of $5.3 billion.
  • France-based dairy company Lactalis tops the list as the world's largest dairy company with a turnover of US$ 23.0 billion.
  • It has ousted Switzerland-based global giant Nestle, which has dominated the list for decades.
  • Rabobank's Global Diary Top 20 Report is released annually to rank the dairy industry on their sales data and financial statements.



Chhattisgarh govt will provide assistance of Rs 9,000 per acre to drought affected farmers.

  • Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel announced that drought-hit farmers would get Rs 9,000 per acre whether production is affected or not.
  • Drought-like situation has arisen in many areas of the state due to less rainfall.
  • It has affected Kharif crops mainly paddy, minor millets and pulses.
  • The CM also announced the publication of biographies of Pandwani artist Late Punaram Nishad and Nacha-Gammat artist Late Madan Kumar Nishad.

Railways launches new "Jungle Tea Toy-Train Safari" on Darjeeling Himalayan Route.

  • Railway's Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has started regular Jungle Tea Toy-Train Safari from Siliguri Junction to Rongtong Station.
  • The toy train will be run with Heritage Steam Engine and Vista Dome Dining Car facilities.
  • Railway Authority in Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) to attract tourists so as to promote tourism industry.
  • Tourists aboard the train can enjoy breathtaking views of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary and the hills.
  • UNESCO declared the toy train on this route a World Heritage Site in 1999.



Dorje Angchuk became the 1st Indian honorary member of the International Astronomical Union.

  • An engineer from Ladakh has become the only Indian honorary member of the International Astronomical Union,
  • Along with ten others from across the world, joining a select list of 20 international experts.
  • This recognition by the International Astronomical Union is for his passionate promotion of astronomy in the Ladakh region through his outstanding astrophotography.
  • Angchuk is the Engineer-in-Charge of the IIA's Indian Astronomical Observatory at Hanle, Ladakh.
  • But his involvement in astronomy is much more than that.
