India hosted the 8th meeting of agricultural experts from BIMSTEC countries.

  • The Bay of Bengal Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation Initiative (BIMSTEC) includes India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.
  • The meeting was chaired by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research & Education & Director General, ICAR.
  • He assured to enhance cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors among BIMSTEC member states.
  • He assured cooperation in developing resilient agriculture, food systems and value chains.
  • He also assured to address biosecurity and biosecurity concerns and focus on adoption of digital technology in agriculture and its business activities.



Bharatpe has partnered with Axis Bank to launch its point of sale business Bharatswipe

  • Axis Bank has partnered with BharatPe for the point of sale (PoS) business of BharatPe named BharatSwipe.
  • Under the partnership, Axis Bank will be the bank to acquire Bharat Swipe and will offer credit and debit card acceptance for BharatPe-affiliated merchants.
  • The partnership will help BharatPe expand its merchant acquisition business in India.



Pankaj Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new Director General of Border Security Force.

  • Pankaj Kumar Singh is a Rajasthan cadre officer.
  • He is currently serving as the Special Director General of the force that guards over 6,300 km of Indian fronts along Pakistan and Bangladesh.
  • The BSF is about 2.65 lakh personnel in strength.



IIT Ropar has developed the world's 1st "plant based" smart air purifier.

  • IIT Ropar and Kanpur and the Faculty of Management Studies of the University of Delhi have jointly launched a living-plant based air purifier named Ubreath Life.
  • This air purifier will boost the air purification process in indoor places like hospitals, schools, offices and homes.
  • It is the world's 1st, state-of-the-art smart bio-filter that can freshen breath.
  • The Ubreathe Life technology works through the air-purifying natural leafy plants. The room air interacts with leaves and goes to the soil-root zone where maximum pollutants are purified.



Basant Kumar Mishra Indian neurosurgeon has been awarded the International Lifetime Achievement Award in Neurosurgery by AANS.

  • Odisha-born neurosurgeon Dr Basant Kumar Mishra has been honored with the prestigious American Association of Neurological Surgeons' International Lifetime Achievement Award in Neurosurgery.
  • Mishra is the first Indian physician to receive the AANS honour,
  • which was conferred on him in a virtual ceremony during the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting 2021 held in Orlando, Florida.
  • He was the first surgeon in the world to perform computer-guided aneurysm surgery.
  • Mishra completed his MBBS from VIMSAR, Burla. He received a Master of Surgery from Delhi University in 1980 and MCh Neurosurgery from AIIMS New Delhi in 1983.
