India's largest open air fernery inaugurated in Uttarakhand.

  • India's largest open-air fernery has been inaugurated in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand.
  • The new center will serve the twin purpose of conservation of fern species as well as creating awareness of their ecological role and promoting further research.
  • Ranikhet Fernery has around 120 different types of ferns, spread over four acres of land at an altitude of 1,800 metres.
  • The facility has been developed under the CAMPA scheme of the central government over a period of three years by the research wing of Uttarakhand Forest Department.



The Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the Digital Population Clock.

  • The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Bharti Praveen Pawar inaugurated the Digital Population Clock.
  • The Minister also presided over the seminar on Population, Human Capital and Sustainable Development.
  • The Digital Population Clock was inaugurated at the Institute of Economic Development inside the University of Delhi.
  • He also launched a book titled Infant and Child Mortality Rate in Assam - Demographics and Socio-Economic Interrelationship on the occasion.
  • The book was written by Dr. Dipanjali Haloi and Dr. Suresh Sharma.
  • During the event, an HMIS brochure or ready reckoner was also launched.



India and Japan have organized the 6th Maritime Relations Dialogue.

  • India and Japan held the first ever Ministerial Level 2+2 Dialogue in New Delhi.
  • The dialogue includes defense and foreign ministers from both sides and is seen as an endorsement of the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Japan.
  • The two nations share a common vision of a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific region in which the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity are ensured.
  • The talks enhanced the strategic depth of bilateral security and defense cooperation between the two countries and acknowledged the emerging security challenges.



India and Denmark jointly launched Center of Excellence on Offshore Wind.

  • The Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh and his Danish counterpart, Mr. Dan Jorgensen, Denmark Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, jointly launched Centre of Excellence on Offshore Wind, as part of the Green Strategic Partnership.
  • The Danish Minister is on a visit to India with a delegation of officials to organize a meeting for cooperation in the field of renewable energy focusing on offshore wind energy.
  • During the meeting, both sides agreed to take forward cooperation in renewable energy, especially offshore wind and green hydrogen.



The Co-WIN organization has developed a new API to enable checking of the COVID-19 vaccination status.

  • Co-Win has developed a new application programming interface called Know Your Customer or Customer's Vaccination Status (KYC-VS).
  • This will enable the entities to check the vaccination status of an individual through CoWIN.
  • To use this API, a person needs to enter his/her mobile number and name.
  • After this, they will get an OTP which they will have to enter.
  • In return, Co-Win will send a response to the verification unit on the vaccination status of the individual.
  • CoWIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work) is a Government of India web portal for COVID-19 vaccination registration owned and operated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India.
