Bihar won the gold medal award in the 40th edition of India International Trade Fair.

  • Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 40th edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2021 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi.
  • It was organized by India Trade Promotion Organization with the theme of Self-reliant India and to further promote the idea of Vocal for Local.
  • Bihar is the partner state of the 40th IITF and the focus states are Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
  • Bihar Pavilion won the 6th Gold Medal at IITF 2021 by showcasing the art and cultural richness of the state through handicrafts like Madhubani, Manjusha art, terracotta, handloom and other indigenous products of the state.
  • Piyush Goyal listed five pillars of India as Economy, Exports, Infrastructure, Demand, and Diversity.



Hornbill Festival celebrated in Naga heritage village Kisama.

  • Nagaland's biggest cultural event, the Hornbill Festival has kicked off with colorful performances of traditional music, dance and contemporary, all under one roof at the Naga Heritage Village Kisama.
  • This is the 22nd edition of Hornbill festival and will be celebrated in 6 districts of Nagaland.
  • It was held for the first time in 2000. The opening ceremony culminated with the flight of the Hornbill- A musical presentation by Task Force for Music and Arts Nagaland.
  • More than 282,800 people visited the festival during the 20th edition in 2019, including over 3,000 foreign tourists and at least 55,500 domestic visitors.



Anju Bobby George wins the Woman of the Year award from World Athletics.

  • She has won awards for preparing young girls for sports.
  • She is a gold medallist in 2005 IAAF World Athletics Finals.
  • She was the 1st Indian athlete to win a bronze medal in the long jump at the 2003 World Athletics Championships held in Paris.
  • In the 2004 Olympics, she finished sixth.
  • In 2016, she created a sports academy for young girls.
  • Through this, she has helped India to move ahead in sports and inspired more women to follow in her footsteps.
  • She has also been honored with the award for advocating for gender equality.



Himachal Pradesh Police honoured with "President's Colour" award.

  • Himachal Pradesh Police has organized the Rashtrapati Rang Puraskar ceremony at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla.
  • The Governor presented the Rashtrapati Rang Puraskar to the State Police on the occasion.
  • Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu received the award on behalf of the state police.
  • Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was the chief guest, while Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was also present as the special guest.
  • Himachal Pradesh Police is the eighth state police force in India to receive this honour.



Bangladesh, US begin bilateral exercise CARAT.

  • US military personnel and the Bangladesh Navy (BN) began the 27th annual Sahyog Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) maritime exercise in the Bay of Bengal from 1 December.
  • The nine-day exercise focuses on a wide range of naval capabilities.
  • It includes cooperative actions that demonstrate the ability of the US and Bangladesh to work together to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific.
  • According to Bangladesh Navy Fleet Commander Rear Admiral SM Abdul Kalam Azad, the carat is meant to promote regional cooperation and build ties.
  • Since 2011, the Bangladesh Navy has been participating in the CARAT exercise, which is celebrating its 27th anniversary this year.
