Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Competency Examination for Seafarers.
- Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the Government is striving to improve the quality of Indian Seafarers and make their life comfortable.
- Speaking at the release of Navik Jeevan and launch of Online Competency-based Examination through VC mode in New Delhi.
- It is a fully digital Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning powered online exam system.
- It uses remote proctoring and powerful security and surveillance tools for fair, transparent, and secure examination systems.
- It is the 1st ever written examination for a certificate of competency using the Remote Digital Proctoring mechanism.
Earth Station of Doordarshan Kendra inaugurated in Gorakhpur.
- Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Earth station of Doordarshan Kendra in Gorakhpur.
- Three FM stations of All India Radio were also virtually inaugurated on the occasion.
- This will be Doordarshan's second earth station in Uttar Pradesh and is being built at a cost of Rs 7 crore.
- This Earth Station will enable the programmes generated at the local level to be telecast live through DTH across the world.
- The Earth Station at Doordarshan Kendra Gorakhpur will be a boon to local Bhojpuri artists as they have been demanding it for a long.
India will have nine nuclear reactors by 2024.
- The country will have nine nuclear reactors by 2024 and a new nuclear project, the first in North India, will come up in Haryana's Gorakhpur, 150 km from Delhi, the government informed the Rajya Sabha.
- By 2024, India will have nine nuclear reactors and 12 new additional reactors, which were approved during the times of covid, with a capacity of 9000 MW.
- The minister said that nuclear energy will soon emerge as one of the most important sources of alternative or clean energy for the increasing power demand of the country.
- India is counting on its nuclear program to help meet its Paris climate commitments to reduce the emissions intensity of its economy by a third from 2005 levels by 2030.
Pradip Shah appointed as Chairman of National Asset Reconstruction Company.
- Pradeep Shah, founder of IndiaAsia Fund Advisors, has been appointed as the chairman of National Asset Reconstruction Company (NARCL).
- Shah, an MBA from Harvard and a chartered accountant, is credited with founding India's first and largest housing finance company, HDFC, and rating firm CRISIL.
- While Sanjay Jain, MD of Aditya Birla Asset Reconstruction Company, will be the chief executive of Bharat Debt Resolution Company (IDRCL), a privately owned asset management company (AMC) mandated to resolve bad loans acquired by NARCL.
Sambit Patra named as chairman of India Tourism Development Corporation.
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra as the chairman of India Tourism Development Corporation.
- Prior to this, he had served as an independent director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
- ACC has approved the proposal of Ministry of Tourism to bifurcate the post of Chairman and Managing Director of ITDC into Chairman, ITDC, and Managing Director (MD), ITDC.
