SAIL honoured Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2021.

  • Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has been conferred with the prestigious Golden Peacock Environment Management Award for the year 2021 in the Steel Sector by the Institute of Directors.
  • SAIL has been the winner of this award for 3 consecutive years.
  • The award is given by the Environment Foundation (WEF) to organizations for significant achievements in environmental management since 1998.



International Arbitration and Arbitration Center was inaugurated in Telangana.

  • Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice NV Ramana and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated India's first International Arbitration and Arbitration Center (IAMC) at Phoenix VK Tower in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, Telangana.
  • Those enlisting the center include internationally acclaimed arbitrators and arbitrators from countries such as Singapore and the UK.



A book titled "India’s Ancient Legacy of Wellness" by Dr Rekha Chaudhari.

  • The book titled India's Ancient Legacy of Wellness authored by Dr. Rekha Choudhary was released in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
  • The book highlights how important it is for human beings to be close to nature which helps to regenerate and recharge to do productive work.



GACL, GAIL join hands to set up Bioethanol Plant in Gujarat.

  • Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Limited (GACL) and GAIL (India) Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a bioethanol plant with a production capacity of 500 kilo liters per day (KLD) in Gujarat.
  • The MoU was signed on the lines of the roadmap launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for 20% ethanol blending in petrol by 2025 to reduce crude oil imports.
  • The estimated project cost is Rs. 1,000 crores and it is expected to generate annual revenue of approximately Rs. 1500 crores.
  • An estimated savings of USD 70 million per year in Foreign Exchange is also expected through this project.



SpaceX launched 52 Starlink satellites from its California base.

  • A SpaceX rocket carried 52 Starlink internet satellites into orbit from California early December 18.
  • The two-stage Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from coastal Vandenberg Space Force Base at 4:41 a.m. and soared over the Pacific.
  • The first stage of the Falcon returned and landed aboard a SpaceX drone ship at sea.
  • This was the 11th launch and recovery of the platform.
  • Starlink is a satellite-based global Internet system that SpaceX has been building for years to bring Internet access to underserved areas of the world.
