Rajnath Singh inaugurates Kalpana Chawla Research Center at Chandigarh University.
- Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Kalpana Chawla Center for Research in Space Science and Technology (KCCRSST) at Chandigarh University.
- The Union Minister also launched Chandigarh University's Defense Scholarship Scheme worth Rs 10 crore for the children of defense personnel of the three Services.
- It is named after India-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who lost her life in the 2003 Columbia shuttle disaster.
- Kalpana Chawla was the 1st woman of Indian origin to go to space.
- The Kalpana Chawla Center for Research in Space Science and Technology will help strengthen the country's space sector.
- It will train the students to face the future challenges in space science, satellite development and space research.
Ratan Tata's biography "Ratan N Tata: The Authorized Biography" will be out in November 2022.
- Ratan N Tata: The Authorized Biography is authored by Dr. Thomas Mathew, a former senior bureaucrat and retired IAS officer.
- The book will be published by HarperCollins.
- It highlights the 84-year-old Ratan Tata’s childhood, college years, and early influences, among other things.

- Simona Halep played a very solid match to win the 2022 Melbourne Summer set against Veronika Kudermatova in a 6-2 6-3 win.
- Meanwhile at the Melbourne Summer Set 2 tennis tournament, American player Amanda Anisimova won the women's singles tennis title to earn her second career WTA title.

Jan Dhan Accounts Deposits Cross ₹ 1.5 lakh Crore By December 2021.
- As per the data provided by the Finance Ministry, deposits in Jan Dhan bank accounts have crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore as of December 2021.
- As on 31 December 2021, the total balance in over 44.23 crore Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts stood at ₹ 1,50,939.36 crore.
- More than 44.23 crore accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) scheme.
- According to the finance ministry, 34.9 crore were with public sector banks, 8.05 crore with regional rural banks and the remaining 1.28 crore with private sector banks.
Former RBI governor Urjit Patel appointed as the vice-chairman of AIIB.
- Urjit Patel has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the multilateral funding institution Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for a period of three years.
- He will be one of the five vice-presidents of AIIB.
- He is expected to take charge from February 2022.
- He will replace outgoing Vice President DJ Pandian, who is in charge of AIIB's sovereign and non-sovereign debt in South Asia, the Pacific Islands and South-East Asia.
