Netaji Research Bureau presents Netaji Award 2022 to former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe.

  • Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been honored with the Netaji Award 2022 by the Kolkata-based Netaji Research Bureau.
  • The award was presented by the Bureau on 23 January 2022 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose at his Elgin Road residence in Kolkata.
  • The award was accepted on behalf of Abe by the Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Nakamura Yutaka.
  • Japanese Ambassador to India – Satoshi Suzuki



PM Narendra Modi unveils a hologram statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate on Parakram Divas.

  • January 23 is being observed as Parakram Diwas in India, to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
  • As a part of this year-long celebration, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated a hologram statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate in New Delhi.
  • The hologram statue will be replaced by a grand granite statue of Netaji, once the statue is completed.
  • The size of the hologram statue is 28 feet in height and 6 feet in width.
  • The statue is being installed on the 125th birth anniversary as a tribute to Netaji's immense contribution in the country's freedom struggle and will be a symbol of his indebtedness to the country.



NATO partners to hold 12-day maritime drills in Mediterranean Sea.

  • The NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) member countries will be conducting a 12-day maritime exercise in the Mediterranean Sea from January 24, 2022.
  • The name of the maritime exercise is Neptune Strike '22.
  • The naval exercise will conclude on February 04, 2022.
  • The main objective of this exercise will be to demonstrate and test the wide range of maritime capabilities of NATO.



Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister launched "Apna Kangra" app.

  • Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur has launched Apna Kangra app and handicrafts by Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
  • The objective of the app is to provide hassle free experience to the tourists and to promote the sale of local handicrafts.
  • The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the Radhe Krishna Cow Sanctuary at Luthan in Jwalamukhi assembly constituency of Kangra.
  • Himachal government launched Mukhyamantri Himcare scheme to provide medical services to cattle.



Karnataka became the 1st state in India to launch AVGC Center of Excellence.

  • The Government of Karnataka has launched India's first AVGC Center of Excellence (CoE) (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics) at Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  • AVGC CoE was launched under its Innovate Karnataka initiative along with leading high technology digital media hubs.
  • It is funded by the Department of Electronics Information Technology, Department of Biotechnology and the Department of Science and Technology.
  • Karnataka became the 1st state in India to set up such an AVGC CoE, it is also the largest center in Asia.
