PM Modi inaugurates 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Hyderabad-based ICRISAT.

  • PM Modi inaugurated the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Patancheru, Hyderabad.
  • During the occasion, the Prime Minister also inaugurated two research facilities of ICRISAT, the Climate Change Research Facility on Plant Protection and the Rapid Generation Advancement Facility.
  • Both these facilities are dedicated to the smallholder farmers of Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
  • The Prime Minister also unveiled the specially designed logo of ICRISAT and launched a commemorative postage stamp issued on the occasion.
  • It aims to conduct agricultural research for rural development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.



Centre extends Indian Footwear and Leather Development Programme for five years from 2021-2026.

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Indian Footwear and Leather Development Programme (IFLDP) for five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
  • The total financial outlay approved for the programme is Rs. 1700 crore till March 31, 2026, or till further review, whichever is earlier.
  • The purpose of IFLDP Programme is to develop infrastructure for the leather sector, which can address environmental concerns specific to the leather sector, facilitate additional investments, employment generation and increase in production.
  • The scheme is implemented by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.



IIT-Hyderabad launches AI-based platform for the disabled jobseekers- Swarajability.

  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Hyderabad) has launched an AI-based job portal named Swarajability that helps people with disabilities acquire relevant skills and find jobs.
  • It is presently the beta version of the portal.
  • The project is funded by Kotak Mahindra Bank and it has been developed in association with Youth4Jobs, Visual Quest apart from Kotak Mahindra Bank.
  • There are 21 million persons with disabilities in the country.
  • About 70 per cent of them are either unemployed or underemployed.



LIC has tied up with PolicyBazaar for digital distribution of life insurance.

  • Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has tied up with PolicyBazaar to digitally offer a wide range of life insurance and investment products to its customers across India.
  • This is LIC's first association with a private insurance aggregator, which primarily relies on its 1.33 million agents for distribution of products.
  • To facilitate seamless digital distribution of life insurance products and promote financial inclusion across India.



The foundation stone of the world's 3rd largest cricket stadium was laid in Jaipur.

  • The Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly laid the foundation stone of world’s third-largest cricket stadium in Jaipur on February 05, 2022.
  • The International Cricket Stadium in Jaipur will be the second-largest cricket stadium in India and the third-largest in the world.
  • The new international stadium will be built by the Rajasthan Cricket Academy (RCA) on the Jaipur-Delhi bypass, over 100 acres of land in Jaipur.
  • The stadium will have a seating capacity of 75,000 spectators.
