Jain University won the title of Khelo India University Games 2021.

  • Jain University emerged as the overall champion of the Khelo India University Games.
  • Jain University claimed 20 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals to take top honours.
  • Lovely Professional University (17 gold, 15 silver, 19 bronze) and defending champion Panjab University (15 gold, 9 silver, 24 bronze) finished second and third respectively.
  • Jain University swimmer Siva Sridhar, with seven gold and two silver medals, finished as the most successful athlete of the championship.

  • Former petroleum secretary Tarun Kapoor has been appointed as an advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • Mr Kapoor, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, superannuated as the secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on November 30, 2021.
  • Senior bureaucrats Hari Ranjan Rao and Atish Chandra have been appointed as additional secretaries in the PMO.
  • Kapoor’s appointment will be initially for a period of two years from the date of joining.



Country's first Greenfield grain based ethanol plant opened in Bihar's Purnea.

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar opened the country’s first Greenfield grain-based ethanol plant in Purnea.
  • The Rs 105-crore plant by Eastern India Biofuels Pvt Ltd is the first one developed since the Centre gave a go-ahead to Bihar’s ethanol production and promotion policy-2021.
  • The Purnea plant, built with latest technology using zero waste discharge.
  • It has been set up on about 15 acres of land and will buy 130 tons of rice husk and 145-150 tons of maize or rice from farmers every day.
  • The ethanol will be exclusively sold to Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum in the state and in neighbouring West Bengal and Jharkhand, for which a 10 year purchase agreement has been inked with the OMCs.



Chhattisgarh govt launches scheme for doorstep delivery of 100 public services.

  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the scheme, titled Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojna (Mitaan stands for friend), which will be implemented as a pilot project in 14 civic bodies, including the state capital Raipur and cities like Durg, Bilaspur and Rajnandgaon.
  • Residents of 14 municipal corporations in Chhattisgarh can now avail around 100 public services, including delivery of birth, caste, income and marriage certificates, at their doorstep under a new scheme launched by the state government.
  • Under the scheme, the required documents of citizens will be collected from their home through a nominated individual Mitaan, who will scan the certificates and get the processes rolling for the issuance of certificates/services.
  • People can contact the Mitaan on toll free number –14545 — for the service.



Naresh Kumar appointed as new director of Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand.

  • Senior Indian Forest Service officer Naresh Kumar has been appointed as the new director of the Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand.
  • A 1999-batch IFS officer, Naresh Kumar replaces Rahul who was shifted to the office of Uttarakhand’s Head of Forest Force.
  • Apart from that Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Girija Shankar Pandey has been given the additional charge of CEO Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).
