Country's 1st "Flow Chemistry Technology Hub" set up at Dr. Reddy's Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS), Hyderabad.

• A Flow Chemistry Technology Hub (FCT Hub) has been set up at Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS).
• The hub was formally inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, Govt of Telangana.
• This is the first of its kind in our country and an enabler for the pharma industry in India.
• This hub is a landmark initiative by the Government of Telangana in partnership with Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Laurus Labs to incorporate and promote efficient and sustainable technologies in the pharma sector.

Country's 1st Tribal Health Observatory to be set up in Odisha.

• Odisha is set to come up with India's only observatory that will establish a repository on the health of the tribal population in the state.
• A memorandum of understanding was inked in this regard between the ST and SC Development Department and the RMRC, a regional center of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
• The Tribal Health Observatory (TriHOb) is the first in the country, and designed to be an effective, evidence-based and a policy-oriented center.

Dhanush Srikkanth won the gold medal for India in the men's 10m air rifle event at the Deaflympics.

• Aditya Yadav, daughter of Gorakhpur, UP, has won gold medal for her team in Deaf Olympics while creating history in Brazil.
• India has won gold medal in this badminton championship for the first time.
• Apart from this, Indian shooter Dhanush Srikanth has won a gold medal for India in the men's 10m air rifle event on the third day of the 24th Olympics for the Hearing Impaired in Brazil.
• India is currently placed eighth on the medals table with two gold and one bronze medal.
• Ukraine tops the standings currently with 19 gold, six silver and 13 bronze medals.

"Jivhala" loan scheme launched by Maharashtra government for prisoners in jails.

• Maharashtra Prisons Department has launched a first-of-its-kind credit scheme for prisoners lodged in jails across the state.
• The loan scheme named Jeevala is introduced by the Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank for the prisoners who are serving a jail sentence of more than 3 years.
• The pilot was introduced for prisoners at Yerawada Central Jail in Pune, and will gradually be extended to nearly 60 prisons across the state.
• Prisoners can use the loan for the education of their children, medical treatment of family members, legal fees or other expenses.

US President Biden announces Karine Jean-Pierre as new White House Press Secretary.

• US President Joe Biden announced Karine Jean-Pierre as the new Press Secretary of the White House, making her the first black woman and the first member of the LGBTQIA+ community to hold the post.
• Jean-Pierre would step into the press secretary role when Psaki leaves the White House on May 13. She will also act as his assistant.
• Jean-Pierre is currently the White House’s deputy press secretary and deputy assistant to Biden.
