2nd India-Nordic Summit held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has participated in the 2nd India-Nordic Summit.
  • This summit has been held in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
  • The Nordic countries reiterated their support for India’s permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
  • The leaders agreed to work together to fight and address climate change.
  • The Nordic countries are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic.
  • The Nordic countries include Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands (an archipelago of islands as an autonomous country within the kingdom of Denmark).
  • The first India-Nordic Summit was held in 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Apart from the United States, India is the only other country with which the Nordic countries have summit-level engagement.



Indian Athletics Grand Prix 3 and 4 will now be held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

  • The Indian Grand Prix 3 and 4, which were originally scheduled to be held in Madurai, will now be organised here on May 21 and 24, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
  • This is the second time the venue of the two one-day events has been changed.
  • The IGP 3 and 4 were originally to be held in Madurai on May 17 and 21 respectively.
  • The AFI had issued a circular that the two events will be held at the LNCPE in Thiruvananthapuram. They will now be held in Bhubaneswar.
  • There will be 17 events in both the meets which include nine for women and eight for men. The meets will be held in the evening on both days.



A new Book "Indo-Pak War 1971 - Reminiscence of Air Warriors" released.

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has released a book titled INDO-PAK WAR 1971- Reminiscences of Air Warriors.
  • The book was edited by Air Marshal Jagjeet Singh and Group Captain Shailendra Mohan.
  • The book features 50 Swarnim articles written by veterans narrating their experiences in detail.



Pushp Kumar Joshi appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

  • Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) have announced that Pushp Kumar Joshi has taken over the role of the new Chairman and Managing Director.
  • Prior to this, Joshi was HR Director at the company and was serving as the interim head in the absence of a formal order from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
  • He has replaced Mukesh Kumar Surana.



Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Sudhanshu Dhulia appointed as Judge of Supreme Court.

  • The Central government notified the appointments of Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Gujarat High Court judge Justice Jamshed Burjor Pardiwala, as the judges of the Supreme Court.
  • A similar notification was issued for the appointment of Justice Pardiwala.
  • Justice Dhulia will be the second Judge to be elevated from Uttarakhand High Court.
  • With the appointment of Justice Dhulia and Justice Pardiwala, the top court will regain its full strength of 34 judges, which had come down to 32 after the retirement of Justice R Subhash Reddy on January 4 this year.
