Delhi government inducts two robots in its firefighting fleet to douse the fire in the city.

  • The Arvind Kejriwal Government has undertaken a unique initiative of using robots for extinguishing fires in the city.
  • These remote-controlled firefighting robots will have greater accessibility to places and will be able to navigate narrow lanes, reach spaces inaccessible to humans and perform tasks too risky for people.
  • At present, the Delhi Government has inducted 2 such robots, if the trial is successful, more such robots will be inducted into the fleet.
  • This machine can be operated remotely from a distance of 300 metres. It will not be affected by fire, smoke, heat, or any other adverse condition.
  • It has a 140-horsepower engine. This robot can run at a speed of four kilometres per hour.



Manchester City won the 2021/22 Premier League Championship.

  • Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min have won the Premier League’s Golden Boot for 2021-22.
  • Salah has 23 goals and 14 assists in 35 Premier League matches this season and this is his third Golden Boot, having won the highest goalscorer award first for the 2017-18 season and again in the following season.
  • Son Heung-Min of Tottenham Hotspur shared the Golden Boot with as many goals, after his brace against Norwich City on the final matchday.
  • Manchester City have been crowned 2021/22 Premier League champions - their fourth title success in the last five seasons.



Karnataka government announces 33% reservation for women in outsourced government jobs.

  • In a significant move, the Karnataka government has reserved 33 per cent for outsourced women employees in all the departments.
  • Chief Secretary P Ravikumar issued a circular in this regard.
  • At present, out of 7.2 lakh sanctioned posts in Karnataka with 4.6 lakh employees, there are 1.5 lakh outsourced staff. So now, at 50,000 posts will be reserved for women employees.
  • As per the circular, the state government recruits data entry operators, housekeeping staff and other group D employees, drivers through outsourcing.



4th edition of India-Bangladesh Navy Bilateral exercise commences in Northern Bay of Bengal.

  • The fourth edition of the Indian Navy-Bangladesh Navy Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) has been commenced.
  • The patrolling drill commenced in the northern Bay of Bengal and would continue between May 22 and 23.
  • Indian Navy’s indigenous warships, INSKora and INSSumedha along with Bangladesh Navy’s warships BNS Ali Haider and BNS Abu Ubaidah would touch the waters during patrolling.



Swimmer Ariane Titmus broke Katie Ledecky's world record in the 400m freestyle At the Australian Swimming Championships.

  • Olympic gold medalist Ariarne Titmus has broken the women’s 400-meter freestyle world record at the Australian swimming championships.
  • Titmus clocked 3 minutes 56.40 seconds in final in Adelaide.
  • Her time bettered the previous benchmark of 3:56.46 set by her American rival Katie Ledecky at the 2016 Olympics.
  • Titmus beat Ledecky for Olympic gold in the 400m and 200 freestyle and finished behind the American great in the 800m freestyle final at last year’s Tokyo Games.
