India, Senegal sign MoUs for cultural exchange, cooperation in youth matter.

  • India has signed three MoUs with and Senegal, after talks between VP, M Venkaiah Naidu and President of Senegal, Macky Sall.
  • The first MoU is related to renewal of Cultural Exchange Progarmme (CEP) for the period 2022-26.
  • Second MoU is related to visa-free regime Official which will strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
  • Third MoU, seeks to enhance bilateral cooperation in youth matters.



Industry Transition Dialogue Held in Stockholm.

  • India and Sweden hosted the Industry Transition Dialogue today in Stockholm, as a part of their joint initiative i.e. Leadership for Industry Transition (LeadIT).
  • The LeadIT initiative lays specific focus on hard to abate sectors that are key stakeholders in the global climate action and require specific interventions.
  • The event was opened by address from Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, India, Shri Bhupender Yadav and Minister for Climate and the Environment, Sweden, Ms. Annika Strandhäll.



Para-athlete Vinod Kumar banned for intentional misrepresentation at Tokyo.

  • Board of Appeal of Classification (BAC) has banned Para-athlete, Discus throw player, Vinod Kumar for two years (Until 2023) for intentional misrepresentation.
  • He won the bronze medal in the discus throw event (F52 category) at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
  • At the Tokyo games, he gave a best throw of 19.91m to finish third behind Piotr Kosewicz (20.02m) of Poland and Velimir Sandor (19.98m) of Croatia.



Delhi govt to name colonies & streets after Babasaheb Ambedkar.

  • Following the Central government’s guideline advising against the usage of the word Harijan, the Delhi government is set to replace the word Harijan from names of colonies & streets and name them after Babasaheb Ambedkar instead.
  • Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam has tabled a proposal to rename all streets & colonies under Delhi government titled as Harijan after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
  • This development comes after the Union government’s guidelines against the usage of the word Harijan.
  • The social welfare minister chaired a meeting with officials from the concerned departments in order to expedite the process.
  • The Delhi Government strives to uplift the SC, ST, and OBC communities living in the national capital.



Ashwini Bhatia appointed as whole time member of SEBI.

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced the appointment of Ashwani Bhatia as a Whole Time Member (WTM) at the regulatory body.
  • Bhatia was the Managing Director (MD) of State Bank of India, the country's largest public-sector lender, before being appointed to the SEBI.
  • The former SBI MD took charge as a WTM after the post remained vacant for nearly 7 months.
  • After Bhatia’s joining, Sebi now has three WTMs.
