  • Kalash Gupta, a 3rd-year computer science student at IIT Delhi got the coveted World's Best Coder title along with a prize money of $10,000 by emerging on the top of the list of over 1 lakh coders from 87 countries who participated in the tenth season of Code Vita, a global programming competition held annually by Tata Consultancy Services.
  • It is the world's biggest coding competition according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie to be honored with "Companion of Honor".

  • Salman Rushdie, the Mumbai-born author of the Booker Prize-winning novel Midnight's Children, leads a list of over 40 professionals and community champions of Indian-origin to be honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.
  • The Companion of Honour is a special award granted to those who have made a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government lasting over a long period of time.
  • Midnight's Children' was twice (1993 and 2008) voted Best of the Bookers by the public. He was knighted for services to literature in 2007.



Zulfikar Hassan appointed as the new Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

  • Zulfiquar Hasan has been appointed for a tenure up to his superannuation on 31.10.2024.
  • West Bengal-cadre 1988-batch IPS officer, Zulfiquar Hasan has been serving as the Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Delhi.
  • The post of the Director-General, BCAS has been vacant since January 4 after incumbent Nasir Kamal opted for voluntary retirement.



India's Anjum Moudgil won silver medal at Shooting World Cup 2022.

  • Olympian Anjum Moudgil won the rifle 3-position silver behind Rikke Maeng Ibsen of Denmark in the shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • Anjum went down 12-16 in the gold medal match to Denmark's Rikke Maeng Ibsen.
  • Anjum, also a world championship silver medallist, had on qualified for the top-eight ranking round with a score of 587 out of 600, which gave her a fourth place in a field of 60 shooters.
  • It is Anjum's second individual World Cup silver in the event.
  • Indian now have one gold and three silver medals in the tournament and stand in third place behind Korea and Serbia.
