Multinational peace exercise "Ex Khan Quest 2022" started in Mongolia.

  • A multinational peacekeeping exercise Ex Khaan Quest 2022 featuring participation from military contingents from 16 countries, including India has commenced in Mongolia.
  • Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the President of Mongolia inaugurated the Exercise in an impressive ceremony organised at the exercise location in Mongolia.
  • Indian Army is represented by a contingent from the LADAKH SCOUTS.
  • The military exercise will enhance the level of defence co-operation between Indian Army and participating countries especially with the Mongolian Armed Forces which will enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.



India to participate in world's largest maritime exercise "Rim of the Pacific".

  • India has decided to participate in the world’s biggest maritime exercise 'Rim of the Pacific' or RIMPAC, hosted by the US.
  • As many as 26 countries will showcase their naval might from June 29 to August 4 in Honolulu and San Diego in the 28th edition of the naval wargames.
  • The RIMPAC started in 1971 as an annual exercise by the US, Australia, and Canada. But from 1974, the maritime exercise became a biennial event.
  • India first participated in RIMPAC in 2014 when indigenously built Shivalik class stealth frigate INS Sahyadri took part in the excercise.



Social media platform Instagram has launched a feature called "Amber Alert" to help locate missing children.

  • Instagram will now help people to find missing children.
  • The social media platform has launched AMBER alerts on its platform, whereby people will be able to view and share missing child notices in their area.
  • This feature was developed in partnership with organizations such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the US, the International Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the National Crime Agency in the UK, the Office of the Attorney General in Mexico, Federal Police and more.
  • The alert will include essential details about the child, like a photo, a description, the location of the abduction, and any other information available that can be provided. People will be able to share the alert with friends to spread the word.



Swapnil Kusale-Ashi Chouksey win 50m rifle 3P mixed gold, India end ISSF World Cup on 2nd spot.

  • Ashi Chouksey and Swapnil Kusale beat Daria Tykhova and Serhiy Kulish of Ukraine 16-12 for the gold medal in the 50-metre rifle mixed team event of the shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • It was the second gold for rifle-only team India, and the third medal for Swapnil, who had won the individual silver behind Kulish apart from the team silver.
  • India finished second behind Korea in the medal tally with two gold and three silver.



Chilka Lake, Asia's largest saltwater lagoon, has recorded a population of 176 fishing cats.

  • A new survey at the Chilika Lake, Asia's largest brackish water lagoon in Odisha, has provided the world's first population estimation of the fishing cat.
  • This is the world's longest-running research and conservation project on fishing cats.
  • It began in 2010 and is currently underway in two states in India: West Bengal and Odisha.
  • West Bengal declared fishing cats the state animal in 2012 and the Chilika authorities announced in 2020 that the fishing cat was the lake's ambassador, according to The Fishing Cat Project.
  • Fishing cats are globally threatened cats that occur in wetlands.
