India ranked 7th in FDI report released by UNCTAD.

• India jumped one position to 7th among the top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the last calendar year (2021).
• UNCTAD said FDI inflows into India declined to $45 billion in 2021 from $64 billion in the preceding year.
• While the United States ($367 billion) remained the top recipient of FDI, China ($181 billion) and Hong Kong ($141 billion) also retained second and third position respectively.

Ramkrishna Mukkavilli becomes 1st Indian to be recognised as Global SDG pioneer by UNGC.

• For the first time in the world, an Indian has been recognized by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) as a Global Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Pioneer for Water Stewardship from India.
• Ramkrishna Mukkavilli, the Founder and Managing Director of Maithri Aquatech, a Make-In-India company.
• Using the technology of atmospheric water generation, his company Maithri Aquatech has generated over 100 million litres of fresh water from the air.
• He was previously selected as India’s SDG Pioneer by the UN Global Compact Network India and has now been recognised as one of the 10 new SDG Pioneers for 2022.

Mayank Kumar Agarwal appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati.

• Doordarshan and Doordarshan News Director-General Mayank Kumar Agrawal has been given the additional charge of Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
• He was previously associated with Doordarshan and Doordarshan News at the public broadcaster.
• The move came after the five-year tenure of Shashi Shekhar Vempati as Prasar Bharati CEO came to an end.
• Mr. Vempati was appointed as CEO of the public broadcaster in June 2017, on the recommendation of a three-member committee headed by the then Vice-President.

AR Rahman appointed ambassador of Indo-UK culture platform "The Season of Culture".

• Music Maestro AR Rahman has been appointed as ambassador of The Season of Culture, which marks the 75th anniversary of India's independence.
• It was officially launched by Britain's Deputy High Commissioner to India Jan Thomson and Director (India) of the British Council Barbara Wickham.
• The Season of Culture aims to strengthen India-UK collaboration in the areas of arts, English and education.

Thailand becomes 1st Asian country to legalize cannabis consumption.

• Thailand becomes the first Asian country on to legalise the growing of marijuana and its consumption in food and drinks.
• Its main aim of boosting its agriculture and tourism sectors, but smoking pot is still against the law.
• Thailand, which has a tradition of using cannabis to relieve pain and fatigue, legalised medicinal marijuana in 2018.
