Karnataka govt launched "FRUITS" software for farmer schemes.
- The Karnataka State Govt has launched The Farmer Registration & Unified Beneficiary Information System or FRUITS software for Aadhar-based, single-window registration for the schemes.
- FRUITS software aims to facilitate single registration with the help of Aadhar card and Karnataka’s Bhoomi digitized land record system for authenticating ownership.
- The state farmers will be able to access benefits of hosts of schemes such as Direct Benefit Transfer under PM Kisan, payment for Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for crops, special financial assistance, caste certificate authentication and ration cards through the creation of single digital identification through FRUITS.
- The Farmer Registration & Unified Beneficiary Information System or FRUITS software will allow various departments to access information about the farmers under a single platform.
- It will also ensure better targeting and effectiveness in the implementation of the schemes.
Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela to be hosted in 200 locations.
- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be organising the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela every month now on.
- Aim: to connect the youth with more opportunities for on-ground training within corporates and further a chance to get employment.

Rahul Srivastava P of Telangana becomes India's 74th Grandmaster.
- Rahul Srivatshav P of Telangana has become India’s 74th Grandmaster, achieving the title after breaking the 2500 (Elo points) barrier in live FIDE ratings during the 9th Cattolica Chess Festival 2022 in Italy.
- The 19-year-old Rahul Srivatshav P reached the 2500 Elo live rating mark after drawing his 8th round game against Grandmaster Levan Pantsulaia in the Cattolica event.
- The current Elo rating of Srivatshav is 2468.
- Srivatshav secured five GM norms and also achieved the title when he crossed the rating threshold of 2500.
- Bharath Subramaniyam became the country’s 73rd GM in January.
- The legendary Viswanathan Anand is India’s first GM.
Govt launches Agnipath military recruitment scheme.
- The Indian govt has introduced the Agnipath Military recruitment scheme, a 4-year tenure scheme for the defense troops.
- The scheme will facilitate the induction of more troops for shorter-term tenures. The scheme has been planned and is being implemented by the Department of Military Affairs.
- Under the scheme, candidates will join the defense forces and continue for a period of four years only. The scheme also aims to induct younger candidates.

- Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, and Switzerland were elected non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for a two-year term.
- The newly elected members will take up their new responsibilities on Jan 1, 2023, and will serve till Dec 31, 2024.
- They will replace the outgoing non-permanent members of India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico and Norway.
- Among the five newly elected members, Mozambique and Switzerland have never served on the Security Council.
- The Security Council has 15 members, five of which are permanent ones: Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States.
- The 10 non-permanent seats of the council are allocated by geographic region, with five replaced each year.
