Kerala ranked 1st in Asia in "Global Startup Ecosystem Report".

  • Kerala’s efforts to become the world’s best startup hub get global recognition.
  • The Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) presented by the US-based startup genome and global entrepreneurship network indicates Kerala holds 1st rank in availing employees at lower costs (Affordable Talents) in Asia.
  • The global ranking is 4th. In 2020, they were in 20th place.
  • Kerala achieved the award based on initial funding, venture investment and attracting and retaining professionals.
  • In the venture capital funding category, Kerala is among the top three Asian nations where most funding was received.


Three-day International Literary Festival "Unmesh" organized in Himachal Pradesh.

  • Three-day international literary festival Unmesh began at Gaiety Theater in Shimla.
  • Over 425 writers, poets, translators, critics and distinguished personalities from 15 countries, representing over 60 languages, are attending the event.
  • The festival was formally inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghawal.
  • The festival is being organised by the Union Ministry of Culture and the Sahitya Akademi with the support of the Himachal Pradesh Department of Art and Culture as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • More than 1,000 books related to the freedom movement will be displayed during the three-day event.
  • Booker Prize-winning author Geetanjali Shree will express her views on women’s writing in Indian languages.


Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai appointed as the next President of the Press Council of India (PCI).

  • Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, a former judge of the Supreme Court has been selected as the next chairperson of the Press Council of India (PCI).
  • Justice Desai had recently headed the Delimitation Commission on Jammu and Kashmir, which was set up to redraw the assembly constituencies of the Union Territory.
  • Justice Desai, 72, is also a former judge of the Bombay high court.


Neeraj Chopra to lead 37-member athletics team in Commonwealth Games 2022.

  • The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) named a 37-member Indian athletics team, to be led by Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
  • Out of the 37 picked by the selection committee of the AFI, 18 are women, with the likes of star sprinters Hima Das and Dutee Chand.
  • Commonwealth Games 2022 will be held in Birmingham.


NPCI International ties up with Lyra Networks to launch UPI, RuPay cards in France.

  • The National Payments Corporation Of India’s (NPCI) international arm, NPCI International, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lyra Network of France for acceptance of UPI and RuPay Cards in the country.
  • The UPI payment system is currently available in countries including Bhutan, Singapore, Nepal, and the UAE.
  • The NPCI International is also in talks to extend UPI services in the United States, West Asia and other European countries.
  • Nepal also adopted the payment mechanism for digital transactions in March this year.
  • NPCI International was incorporated in 2020 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NPCI.
  • The international arm works on deployment of RuPay and UPI outside India.
