Ruchira Kamboj replaced T.S.Tirumurti as Permanent Representative of India to the UN.

• Senior diplomat Ruchira Kamboj appointed as India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
• Kamboj, a 1987-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is presently serving as India’s envoy to Bhutan.
• She will succeed T.S. Tirumurti as the Indian ambassador to the UN.
• Kamboj was earlier posted as Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2002-2005.

Assam becomes 36th State/UT to implement One Nation One Ration Card.

• Assam has become the 36th State to implement the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme.
• With this, the ONORC plan is successfully implemented in all 36 states, and Union Territories, making food security portable throughout the country.
• This scheme is aimed at enabling migrant workers and their family members to seamlessly lift their entitled subsidized foodgrains from any Fair Price Shop of their choice anywhere in the country.
• To make this scheme more seamless and swift, MERA RATION mobile application was rolled out.

FIFA World Cup 2026 will be held in America, Canada and Mexico.

• FIFA has announced the 16 North American cities that will host the World Cup in 2026.
• Eleven cities in the U.S., along with three cities in Mexico and two in Canada, will host the 48-team tournament, an expansion from the previous 32-team count.
• It will be the first time three nations have been appointed to host the World Cup.
• The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

After Srinagar and Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir, Seismological Observatory inaugurated at Udhampur.

• Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurates seismological observatory at Udhampur.
• The third such Centre in J&K has been set up by the Ministry of Earth Sciences at a cost of 20 lakh rupees.
• Dr. Jitendra Singh said that three more earthquake observatories will be set up in Kashmir division by the Central Government in the next four months.

TCS, HDFC Bank, Infosys and LIC among "Most Valuable Global Brands" by "Kantar Brands 2022".

• Four Indian companies namely TCS, HDFC Bank, Infosys and LIC were featured in the ‘Most Valuable Global Brands’ by Kantar Brandz 2022.
• TCS is India's most valuable brand in this list, which is ranked 46th on the list. It is second only to Samsung in the Asia Pacific region.
• Apple is the most valuable brand in the world, with a brand value of $947 billion.
• HDFC Bank is the fourth biggest bank in the world in terms of brand value.
