NITI Aayog’s India Innovation Index 2021: Karnataka, Manipur and Chandigarh Tops.

  • NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Shri Suman Bery released the 2021 India Innovation Index on July 21st, 2022.
  • As per the 3rd edition of NITI Aayog’s India Innovation Index, Karnataka, Manipur and Chandigarh have topped in their respective categories.
  • Member Dr VK Saraswat, CEO Parameswaran Iyer and Senior Adviser Neeraj Sinha, and Institute for Competitiveness Chairman Dr Amit Kapoor were also present during the event.
  • Again, Karnataka has topped in the Major States category.
  • Manipur has topped in the North East and Hill States category.
  • Chandigarh is the top performer in the Union Territories and City States category.


Brijesh Gupta become managing director of private power generation company "RatanIndia Power".

  • RattanIndia Power announced hiring Brijesh Gupta as its new managing director.
  • He has experience working across the renewable, steel, mining and commodities sector in India and abroad.
  • He has over three decades of experience in the industrial sector.
  • RattanIndia Power is a private power generation company, with an installed capacity of 2,700 MW thermal power plants at Amravati and Nashik (1,350 MW at each location) in Maharashtra, with investments of Rs.18,615 crores (US$ 2.5 billion).


India signs MoU with African country Namibia to bring back African cheetahs.

  • India and Namibia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reintroduce African cheetahs in India.
  • The MoU was signed by Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in New Delhi.
  • The MoU will pave the way for translocation of a few cheetahs from Namibia to India.
  • The cheetahs went extinct in India by 1952.
  • They will be first kept in a special five square kilometre enclosure set up within the Kuno National Park itself for regular health check-ups and monitoring for six months before being released into the wild.
  • The animal will return to a wild enclosure in India 69 years after the last recorded cheetah was hunted down in Chhattisgarh in 1952.


Himachal Pradesh becomes 1st state in the country to link all registered commercial vehicles equipped with VLTD with ERSS.

  • Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to connect all registered commercial vehicles equipped with Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) with Emergency Response Support System (ERSS).
  • Now these vehicles can be tracked anywhere in the country through VLTD.
  • Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also introduced the facility of panic button for the safety of women and children in public vehicles.
  • When the panic button is pressed, a signal would be received through satellite to 112 and the person in distress would be connected and alert the police.


India tops medal tally of ISSF Shooting World Cup 2022 with five gold, six silver and four bronze.

  • India finished yet another ISSF Shooting World Cup campaign by topping the medal tally with a haul of 15 medals, including five gold, six silver and four bronze.
  • On the final day of competitions, the Indian trio of Anish Bhanwala, Vijayveer Sidhu and Sameer won the silver in the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol team event.
  • India had won all five ISSF World Cup stages in 2019, one in the curtailed 2021 season and yet again this year in the first stage in Cairo.
