India wins silver in first Commonwealth women’s cricket.

  • The Indian women’s cricket team has settled for the silver medal in Birmingham after losing to five-time T20 champions Australia (won gold) by 9 runs in the Commonwealth Games 2022 final.
  • Other winners:
    • Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand won the Bronze Medal in Badminton Doubles.
    • Annu Rani won Bronze medal in Women’s Javelin Throw.
    • India’s Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker won the gold and silver, respectively, in the men’s triple jump final


UP Govt plans to double farmers income under "Panchamrut Yojana".

  • Uttar Pradesh government has announced that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Panchamrut Yojana’ will help to double the farmers’ income.
  • This can be achieve by introducing cost-effective technical measures and promotion of co-cropping method.
  • The UP Government has increased the sugarcane support price by Rs 350 in the last crushing season in advance, which included Rs 340 for normal and Rs 335 for species declared unsuitable.


World Bank provide USD 300 million to Bangladesh for urban area resilience.

  • The government of Bangladesh has signed an agreement with the World Bank for USD 300 million financing.
  • Aim: To strengthen its local urban institutions to respond and recover from the Covid 19 pandemic and improve preparedness for future shock.
  • It will also help cities and towns of Bangladesh to build back better as they recover from the pandemic and prepare for future shocks.
  • The project will carry out labour-intensive public works to ensure water supply.


India starts cooperation with Bahrain-based Combined Maritime Forces.

  • India has officially began working with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) of Bahrain.
  • Aim: To strengthen collaboration in regional security in the Western Indian Ocean.
  • At the India-US 2+2 in April 2022, India had announced that it would join the CMF as an Associate Partner.
  • CMF is a multi-national naval partnership (34 nation grouping) to promote security, stability and prosperity across the 3.2 million square miles of international waters.


V Pranav becomes India’s 75th Chess Grandmaster.

  • V Pranav(15) has become the 75th Grandmaster of India by winning the Limpedea Open in Baia Mare, Romania, after securing his third and final GM norm, to attain the Grandmaster title.
  • He had won his maiden GM norm at the Serbia Open in 2021 and the second in the Vezerkepzo GM round-robin tourney in Budapest, Hungary in June 2022.
  • He is the 27th Grandmaster from Tamil Nadu (list include Viswanathan Anand, D.Gukesh and R.Praggnanandhaa among others).
