- Dilip Tirkey (former India hockey captain) was unanimously elected as Hockey India (HI) president.
- He was member of the gold medal-winning team at the 1998 Asian Games.
- He has a record 412 international matches as a defender in his career spanning more than 15 years.
- He represented India at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000, and Athens in 2004.
- Bhola Nath Singh was elected the secretary general.

- Nirmala Sitaraman to launch the Bharat Vidya, an online platform for Oriental and South Asian Studies.
- This platform is designed and developed by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI).
- This is a first-of-its-kind online platform that offer both free and paid courses covering various aspects of Indology about art, architecture, philosophy, language, and science.
- BORI will collaborate with Indian and Foreign universities for awarding credits for its courses.
UCO Bank becomes first lender to get RBI's approval for rupee trade.
- UCO Bank has received the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) approval to open a special vostro account with Gazprombank of Russia for trade settlement in Indian rupees.
- This is the first bank to receive RBI's approval after the RBI’s decision to allow Indian banks to settle trade in Indian currency in July.
- Gazprombank of Russia was set up by world’s largest gas producer and exporter Gazprom.
- Aim: To provide banking services for gas industry enterprises.
Assam to use portable device "SAANS" to stop neonatal deaths.
- The Assam government has decided to use the air pressure machine named SAANS.
- SAANS is a portable neonatal Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) system.
- It can provide lifesaving breathing support to infants in hospital settings as well as during travel.
- It is developed by a Bangalore-based start-up, InnAccel Technologies.
- For the development of the machine, InnAccel Technologies has joined hands with the SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Finance Facility.
Nagaland govt to launch its own health insurance scheme CMHIS.
- Nagaland Government to launch its own health insurance scheme called the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) on 1st of October.
- Aim: To reduce out-of-pocket expenditure on hospital care for all bonafide citizens of the state.
- It provides free health insurance coverage of up to five lakh rupees per family per year.
- It will cover State government employees and pensioners and all the Indigenous and or Permanent residents of the State.
