India ranks 107 on Global Hunger Index 2022.

  • As per the 2022 Global Hunger Index (GHI), India has been ranked 107th out of 121 countries.
  • The report was published by the Concern Worldwide (Ireland) and and Welt Hunger Hilfe (Germany).
  • Four indicators of GHI: Undernourishment, Child stunting, Child wasting, and Child mortality.
  • Top 5: Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Chile, China and Croatia.
  • Bottom 5: Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Central African Republic and Yemen.


India defeats Sri Lanka to win Women's Asia Cup 2022.

  • The Indian women's team has clinched the Women's Asia Cup 2022 title, after defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final, held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh.
  • India has defeated Sri Lanka for the fifth time in an Asia Cup final.
  • This is India's record seventh Women's Asia Cup title.
  • Deepti Sharma has been adjudged Player of the Tournament.
  • While, Renuka Singh adjudged Player of the Match.


India's forex reserves rise to USD 532.868 billion.

  • Forex reserves of India has been raised by 204 million to USD 532.868 billion for the week ended on 7th October 2022.
  • Reason: An increase in the value of gold holdings.
  • Foreign Currency Assets (FCAs) was decreased to USD 471.496 billion.
  • SDRs has been increased by USD 155 million to USD 17.582 billion.
  • Reserve position of India with IMF increased to USD 4.836 billion.
  • Last week, the overall reserves were dropped by USD 4.854 billion to USD 532.664 billion.


India's Rudrankksh Patil bags Gold medal at ISSF World Championship.

  • Indian shooter, Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil won the gold medal in men's 10m air rifle event at ISSF World Championship held in Cairo, Egypt.
  • He defeated Danilo Dennis Sollazzo from Italy by 17-15.
  • This win helped him to secure 2024 Paris Olympics quota for the country.
  • He is only the second Indian to achieve this feat, after Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra, who had won the gold in 2006 in Zagreb, Croatia.

Odisha CM releases book on Odisha's lessons in governance during pandemic.

  • Odisha CM, Naveen Patnaik has released a book titled Pandemic Disruptions and Odisha’s Lessons in Governance.
  • This book was written by Rajya Sabha MP, Amar Patnaik.
  • The book is a collection of the various essays on pertinent contemporary issues that emerged in India during the pandemic years of 2020-21 and 2021-2022.
  • The book also highlights the achievements of Odisha's 5-T framework of governance.
  • 5-T: Team work, technology, transparency, transformation and time limit.
