Indian defence ministry is world's biggest employer: Report.

  • According to report Statista infographic on employers with the largest workforces worldwide 2022, Ministry of Defence of India is the world’s biggest employer with 2.92 million people (includes combined active service personnel and reservists).
  • While, the US Department of Defense has placed second in the list, with the employment of 2.91 million people.
  • Statista is a Germany-based private organisation that provides data and statistics about various issues worldwide.


India contribute USD 5 lakhs for UN Trust Fund for Counter-Terrorism.

  • External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar has announced that India will contribute USD 500,000 to the United Nations Trust Fund for Counter Terrorism this year.
  • Reason: To aid capacity-building support to member states in combating terrorism.
  • India has hosted the two-day anti-terrorism meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
  • The meeting in Delhi was held under India's chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC).


US to build Poland's first nuclear power plant.

  • Poland has selected US firm, Westinghouse to build its first nuclear power plant.
  • Reason: Poland's efforts to burn less coal and gain greater energy independence.
  • Poland would use the technology of the Westinghouse Electric Company for the plant in Pomerania province near the Baltic Sea coast.
  • The country has also planned to spend 40 billion dollars for the building of two nuclear power plants with three reactors each.

Petroleum minister, Hardeep Puri to attend ADIPEC 2022 in UAE.

  • Hardeep Singh Puri (Petroleum minister) will attend the opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC-2022), held in UAE.
  • He was invited by Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei (Minister of Energy and Infrastructure) and Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber (Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology).
  • He will also inaugurate the India Pavilion which is jointly set up by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry and CII.


Spain wins FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022.

  • Spain has clinched the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 after defeating Colombia by 1-0 victory in the finals, held at the D Y Patil Sports Stadium, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • Vicky Lopez from Spain was adjudged as the player of the tournament.
  • While, Spain goalkeeper, Sofia Fuente has won the award for best goalkeeping.
  • Earlier, Nigeria beat Germany by 3-2 in a shootout and remained at third placed in the match.
  • In 2018, FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup was also won by the Spain.
