President of India takes a historic sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft.

• President Draupadi Murmu took a trip to the strategic Tezpur Airforce station in Assam, where she embarked on a flight aboard a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet.
• President Murmu is the third President and second woman President to undertake such a sortie.

Commonwealth champion Sanjita Chanu slapped with 4-year ban by NADA.

• Sanjita Chanu, a two-time Commonwealth Games (CWG) gold medalist in weightlifting, has been banned for four years after failing a dope test.
• Sanjita tested positive for Drostanolone Metabolite, an anabolic steroid on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) prohibited list.
• Sanjita had won gold in 48kg ahead of Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
• At the 2018 edition of the CWG in Gold Coast, she was crowned champion in the 53kg category.

MUDRA scheme completes 8 years.

• The PM MUDRA Yojana has completed 8 years of its inception on April 8, 2023.
• As per the government data, around Rs 23.2 lakh crore has been sanctioned in 40.82 crore loan accounts under this scheme since its inception.
• About 68% of accounts under the scheme belong to Women entrepreneurs.
• 51% of accounts belong to entrepreneurs of SC/ST and OBC categories.

• Aim: To facilitate easy collateral-free micro-credit of up to Rs 10 lakh

India’s tiger population up from 2,967 to 3,167 in 2022.

• In the latest tiger census data released by PM Narendra Modi, the tiger population in India is projected to reach 3,167 in 2022.
• On the occasion of completion of 50 years of Project Tiger, the PM also launched the International Big Cat Alliance.
• It aims to protect and conserve the seven major big cats around the world, including tigers and lions.
• Additionally, he released a booklet named Amrit Kaal Ka Tiger Vision, which outlines the vision for tiger conservation in the next 25 years.

Bharat Biotech wins award at World Vaccine Congress 2023.

• Bharat Biotech was awarded the Best Production/Process Development award as a part of the Vaccine Industry Excellence(ViE) awards at the World Vaccine Congress 2023.
• Bharat Biotech is the world’s first producer of intranasal Covid-19 vaccine, iNcovacc.
• The Congress was held during April 3-6 in Washington, USA.
• Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech was the only Indian company in the list of VIE awards
