UAE to host world's largest Conservation Conference in 2025.

• United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the 2025 World Conservation Congress (WCC) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Abu Dhabi from October 10-21, 2025.
• WCC: It is the world's largest and most important gathering of conservationists, and it is expected to draw more than 10,000 delegates from over 160 countries.
• It is expected to bring an estimated 10,000-15,000 delegates from over 160 countries across the globe.

Dubai Emerges as India’s Top Choice for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

• According to the latest fDi Markets Report and the Dubai FDI Monitor, Dubai has secured its position as the leading destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) from India in the calendar year 2022.
• India ranked among the top five source countries for announced FDI projects and estimated FDI capital in Dubai, solidifying the emirate’s appeal to Indian investors.

Shalini Singh becomes the 1st female NCC cadet to complete mountaineering course.

• Shalini Singh made history as she completed the mountaineering course in the Himalayan area of Uttarakhand as the country’s first female NCC cadet.
• Shalini Singh, a 20-year-old NCC cadet from Lucknow, has become the first female cadet in India to complete the advanced mountaineering course.
• She scaled a 15,400-foot peak in the Dring Valley in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand as part of the course.

Argentina's Celeste Soulo appointed as WMO's 1st female secretary general.

• Prof. Saulo, has been Director of the National Meteorological Service of Argentina since 2014 and is currently the First Vice-President of WMO.
• She will take office on 1 January 2024 and succeeds Prof Petteri Taalas, who has completed his two-term mandate.
• Saulo won a landslide vote at the UN Climate and weather agency's Congress in Geneva.

Janardan Prasad appointed new Director-General of the Geological Survey of India.

• Mr. Prasad, who took charge of the 174-year-old institution on June 1, succeeds Dr. S. Raju.
• Prasad is an MSc in Geology from Patna University and joined GSI, Gandhinagar, as a geologist in 1988.
• He was also posted in Shillong, Patna, Faridabad, Ranchi and Hyderabad in various capacities.
• Shri Prasad has good experience in metallurgy and mineral exploration studies.
