India has become second largest Road Network by beating China.

  • India becomes the second-largest country with the biggest road network after beating China. While the United States remains in the number one position.
  • India successfully reserved the position by spreading 1.45-lakh km of road connectivity over the last 8 years.
  • Since April 2019, the NHAI has constructed more than 30,000 kms of highways across the country, including major expressways like the one that connects Delhi with Meerut, or Lucknow with Ghazipur in UP.
  • In August last year, NHAI set the Guinness World Record by successfully constructing the 75 km continuous single bituminous concrete road between Amravati and Akola on NH-53 in a record time of 105 hours and 33 minutes.


New York Declares Diwali as School Holiday.

  • Diwali will now be enshrined as a school holiday in New York City.
  • Jenifer Rajkumar, the first Indian-American woman ever elected to a New York State office, said for over two decades, the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean community has fought for this moment.
  • Last month, Meng introduced a bill in Congress to make Diwali a federal holiday. Under the Diwali Day Act, Diwali would become the 12th federally recognised holiday in the United States.


India's First Hydrogen Train to Run from Jind.

  • India's first hydrogen-powered train will start its journey from Jind district of Haryana.
  • Hydrogen trains use fuel cells to convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity.
  • The first prototype of the train will have eight bogies.
  • The first hydrogen fuel-powered train will run between Jind and Sonipat.
  • They offer a clean and eco-friendly alternative to diesel trains.
  • The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and tackle pollution.
  • Hydrogen-powered trains produce zero direct emissions, with water vapour being the only byproduct.
  • Hydrogen trains are running only in Germany.


DRDO organises "Anusandhaan Chintan Shivir" to encourage defence R&D in industry, academia.

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) organised an Anusandhaan Chintan Shivir in New Delhi with the aim of encouraging Defence R&D within the industry and academia.
  • A list of 75 technology priority areas were released during the Anusandhaan Chintan Shivir.
  • The list identified by the DRDO is further divided into 403 technological categories, which further spread out to 1,295 current and future technology development tasks.
  • The DRDO Technology Foresight 2023, listing current and future technology development tasks, was also unveiled.Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) organised an ‘Anusandhaan Chintan Shivir’ in New Delhi with the aim of encouraging Defence R&D within the industry and academia.


Yogi Adityanath launched "Operation Conviction" in Uttar Pradesh.

  • Yogi Adityanath launches Operation Conviction for cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh.
  • The program aims to convict 20 cases in each district within 30 days of framing of charges.
  • It focuses on crimes such as rape, murder, cow slaughter, religious conversion and offenses under the POCSO Act.
  • In the charges related to the identified crimes, the chargesheet will be sent to the court after conducting a time-bound investigation. Within three days, the charge will be framed and the trial proceedings will be completed within 30 days.
  • The initiative is aimed at expediting the conviction process and ensuring speedy punishment for criminals.
  • The emphasis is on immediate arrest to prevent suspects from evading legal process.
