HM Amit Shah lays foundation stone of the country’s first cooperative-run Sainik School in Gujarat.

  • Home Minister Amit Shah virtually laid the foundation stone of the country’s first cooperative-run Sainik School near Mehsana in Gujarat.
  • The school in Mehsana district is being developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis by Dudhsagar Dairy, one of the largest milk cooperatives in Gujarat.
  • The Sainik School has been named Motibhai R Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School in honour of Motibhai Chaudhary, a milk cooperative stalwart from north Gujarat who expanded the Dudhsagar Dairy after the demise of its founder-chairman Mansinh Patel.
  • Motibhai was elected to Gujarat Assembly and Lok Sabha during his lifetime.
  • He was also a minister in the Gujarat government.


Urban 20 (U20) Mayoral Summit inaugurated in Gandhinagar.

  • The Urban 20 (U20) Mayoral Summit was inaugurated by Bhupendrabhai Patel (Chief Minister of Gujarat) and Kaushal Kishore (Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs) in Gandhinagar.
  • Gujarat CM highlighted forward-looking urban initiatives being implemented in the State.
  • While Kaushal Kishore highlighted the policies and programs initiated by the Government to promote green development, including the LIFE mission, promotion of renewable energy, etc.


National Water Mission Inks Pact with Indian Plumbing Association.

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE), National Water Mission (NWM), Ministry of Jal Shakti and Indian Plumbing Association (IPA).
  • Reason: For a Water Positive India by awareness creation & promotion of rain water harvesting structures, low flow fixtures & sanitary ware, treatment of grey & black water, water audit of built environment.


NLC India Ltd bags GeM Award in "Timely Payments (CPSEs)" Category.

  • NLC India Limited, a Navratna company under the Ministry of Coal, bagged the GeM award in the category Timely Payments (CPSEs) for the year 2023.
  • Reason: For its outstanding contribution to improving the reliability of e-market practices in line with the vision of GeM
  • NLCIL registered and on-boarded in GeM portal in the year 2017.
  • GeM is a dedicated e-Market service platform for marketing different goods and services.


Shekhar Kapur won the British National Award for Best Director.

  • Ace filmmaker Shekhar Kapur received the award for What's Love Got To Do With It at the British National Awards.
  • The British National Awards were held earlier this week, and the film won four awards out of the nine categories in which it was nominated: best director, best British film, best screenplay, and best-supporting actor.
  • The film's screenplay has been written by Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith. Actor Emma is also a part of the movie.
  • Kapur is known for his outstanding films like Bandit Queen, a British biographical drama Elizabeth for which he was nominated for best director at the BAFTAs and Golden Globes, and its sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), which won Cate Blanchett her first acting Oscar.
