India becomes Chair of International Sugar Organisation.

  • In its 63rd council meeting, International Sugar Organisation, headquartered in London, has announced India to be the Chair of the organisation for 2024.
  • India has been the largest consumer and second largest producer of sugar in the world.
  • With about 15% share in global sugar consumption and about 20% production of sugar, Indian sugar trends affects the global markets profusely.


UP launched "Hot Cooked Meal Scheme" for children at Anganwadi centers.

  • CM Yogi Adityanath has launched the Hot Cooked Meal Scheme in Uttar Pradesh, providing nutritious meals to children aged 3 to 6 years at Anganwadis.
  • The initiative aims to provide 70 grams of food grains per beneficiary per day in the form of hot-cooked meals.
  • He also laid the foundation stone for 3,401 Anganwadi centers.
  • He stated that the initiative would benefit 80 lakh children.


Vijayawada Railway Station gets Platinum Certification from IGBC.

  • Vijayawada Railway Station has been given Platinum Certification- The Highest Standard IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Rating.
  • The title was conferred to Vijayawada Railway Station chiefs at Green Building Congress held at Chennai Trade Centre.
  • Senior officers of the Railways received the certification for Vijayawada Railway Station.

"Odh" bags best film award at "75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow" in IFFI.

  • In Goa, the refreshing and thought-provoking short film on receding beach lines of Goa, Odh has won the best film award at the 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow film challenge held at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
  • The film addresses the issue of receding beach lines of Goa, due to the rise in the sea levels and mass constructions happening on the beaches.


Production of four generic cost-effective medicines begins in India.

  • The Union Health Ministry said the production of four generic cost-effective medicines has begun in the country to bring down the exorbitant cost and provide relief to patients with rare diseases.
  • These drugs are now available in the market for the treatment of four types of rare diseases which are Tyrosinemia Type 1, Gaucher’s Disease, Wilson’s Disease and Dravet-Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.
