• India overtakes Hong Kong as the world's fourth-largest stock market by market capitalization on January 22.
• The US maintains the top position with a market cap of $50.86 trillion, followed by China at $8.44 trillion and Japan at $6.36 trillion.
• India’s market cap stood at $4.33 trillion against $4.29 trillion for Hong Kong.

President of India inaugurated Kaushal Bhavan.

• President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Kaushal Bhawan, the new Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship building on Jan 24, 2024.
• She visited exhibition stalls of government initiatives like PMKVY, and SANKALP, and conversed with beneficiaries.
• Kaushal Bhawan, equipped with modern facilities, aims to bolster the Skill India Mission by providing an efficient work environment.

Serum Institute joined global network to boost vaccine production.

• Serum Institute of India will join Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation's network of vaccine producers to enhance responses to future disease outbreaks.
• CEPI aims to have vaccines ready for manufacturing within 100 days of identifying a pandemic pathogen.
• Combining swift vaccine production with early detection, the partnership aims to better control future public health threats.

Former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur honored with Bharat Ratna posthumously.

• The Government of India announces the posthumous awarding of the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor, to former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur.
• Karpoori Thakur, born in January 1924, served as Bihar's Chief Minister twice and was known for his unwavering commitment to social justice and the upliftment of the underprivileged.

Telangana government set to launch free power scheme: "Gruha Jyothi".

• Congress Government in Telangana will implement the Gruha Jyothi scheme from February, providing free power up to 200 units to households.
• The benefit will reflect in power bills issued in March after a decision taken in a manifesto committee meeting.
