• The report, authored by Surjit Bhalla and Karan Bhasin, states that this has been a result of the government's strong policy thrust on redistribution.
• India has just released its official consumption expenditure data for 2022-23.
• According to the data, real per capita consumption growth has been recorded at 2.9 percent per year since 2011-12.

World's 1st jet suit race In Dubai featuring "Iron Man" pilots.

• A first-of-its-kind jet suit race was organised by the Dubai Sports Council and the Gravity company.
• Eight people took part in the world's first jet suit race in Dubai. The race lasted for 90 seconds.
• In this 90-second race, Issa Kalfon grabbed first place.
• British pilots Paul Jones and Freddie Hay bagged the second and the third place, respectively.

Smriti Irani launches Haj Suvidha mobile App.

• Minister Smriti Irani released Haj Guide 2024 and launched Haj Suvidha Mobile Application in New Delhi.
• Last year, more than four thousand women successfully went for Haj under Lady without Mehram (LWM) category.
• This year, over 5000 women have applied under LWM category for Haj.
• Haj Suvidha Mobile App will aid the pilgrims in providing their location to officials in case of any need.

UN Assembly adopts India's resolution on sustainable lifestyles.

• The UN Environment Assembly adopted India's resolution on sustainable lifestyles at its 6th session held in Nairobi, Kenya.
• All participating member states adopted the resolution, which was co-sponsored by Sri Lanka and Bolivia.
• PM Modi has been championing the LiFE movement, urging countries to adopt planet-friendly living practices and move away from deeply consumerist behaviours.

Sarbananda Sonowal dedicates first-ever Made-in-India ASTDS tug.

• Sarbananda inaugurated the 60T bollard pull tug named Ocean Grace and the Medical Mobile Unit (MMU).
• The Ocean Grace is the first made in India ASTDS Tug developed by the Cochin Shipyard Limited.
• This tug is meticulously designed for optimal efficiency and reliability, guaranteeing seamless navigation and proficient vessel assistance, especially for large vessels like VLCCs and ULCCs.
