RBI penalises IDFC First Bank and LIC Housing Finance.

• The RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on IDFC First Bank and Rs 49.70 lakh on LIC Housing Finance.
• LIC Housing Finance has been levied for non-compliance with certain provisions of the Non-Banking Financial Company.
• RBI has cancelled certificate of registration (CoR) of four NBFCs -- Kundles Motor Finance, Nithya Finance, Bhatia Hire Purchase, and Jiwanjyoti Deposits and Advances.

John Tinniswood, the 114-Year-Old Named World’s Oldest Living Man.

• Guinness World Records has named 114-year-old British retiree John Alfred Tinniswood as the world’s oldest living man after the death of the Venezuelan previous titleholder, Juan Vicente Pérez.
• He worked as an accountant for oil companies Shell and BP until his retirement in 1972.
• He was born in Liverpool on 26 August 1912.

US, Japan, Australia and Philippines hold South China Sea exercises.

• Defence forces of the U.S., Japan, Australia, and the Philippines conducted maritime cooperative activity on April 7 to support a free and open Indo-Pacific.
• The one-day maritime exercises involved communication activities and officer of the watch maneuvers in Manila's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea.

Tri-Service conference "Parivartan Chintan" to be held In New Delhi.

• The Chintan will be the first-ever conference of the heads of all tri-services institutions.
• The day-long discussions will be chaired by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan.
• Tri-services commanders’ conferences (TSCC) are held every year at one of the services’ command headquarters.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen wins F1 Japanese Grand Prix 2024.

• The three-time defending F1 champion is again this season's points leader and now has won 22 of the last 26 races dating from the start of the 2023 season.
• He was followed across the finish line by Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez — 12.5 seconds behind — and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari.
• Sainz was 20 seconds off the pace.
• Verstappen now has 77 career wins and Perez stands on 64.
