Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital wins "Best Scientific Poster Award" 2024.

• Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital's research team has been honored with the Best Scientific Poster Award 2024 at Annual Meeting of the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
• The award was given for their pioneering study titled The efficacy of RevitalVision vision-training software in improving best-corrected vision in stable keratoconus patients post Crosslinking surgery.

India helping five nations to develop early warning weather systems.

• India is aiding Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Mauritius in developing early warning systems as part of the United Nations' Early Warnings for All initiative.

• According to WMO, 101 countries now have multi-hazard early warning systems.
• It is projected that by 2030, the world could face 560 medium- to large-scale disasters each year

Neeraj Sharma receives "Medal of Honour" at Consular Day 2024.

• The award was presented at the ITC Grand Chola by HCCD-India in Chennai, for his exemplary efforts in promoting bilateral relations between Palau and India.

Zimbabwe launches new gold-backed currency.

• Zimbabwe has introduced a new gold-backed currency called ZiG - the name stands for "Zimbabwe Gold".
• It aims to replace the severely devalued Zimbabwean dollar (RTGS).
• Zimbabwe's economy has been under strain with an annual inflation rate reaching 55% in March, marking a seven-month high.

Indian Army gets portable Igla-S Air defence system from Russia.

• The Igla-S system is being acquired to enhance the Indian Army’s Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) capabilities.
• The Igla-S is a hand-held defence system that can be operated by an individual.
• India signed a contract with Russia in November last year for 120 launchers and 400 missiles.
• The Igla-S acquisition addresses the Indian Army's need to replace the outdated Igla-1M systems.
