India among 12 nations responsible for 60% of mismanaged plastic waste.

• The Plastic Overshoot Day report by Swiss EA Earth Action said global plastic waste generation has risen by 7% since 2021.
• The world is estimated to have generated 220 million tons of plastic waste in 2023, 70 million tons of which will pollute the environment.
• The 12 countries on top are China, India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia, Egypt, Pakistan, USA and Turkey.

FY2023-24 overall exports estimated to surpass last year's record.

• India’s overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) - USD 776.68 Billion; imports - USD 854.80 Billion.
• Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports - USD 320.21 Billion; imports - USD 422.80 Billion.
• Estimated value of services exports - USD 339.62 Billion, imports - USD 177.56 Billion.

India added record 18 GW renewable energy capacity in FY24.

• India added a record 18.48 GW renewable capacity in 2023-24, 21% higher than previous year.
• Total renewable capacity is 143.64 GW, aiming for 500 GW by 2030, needing 50 GW/year.
• Current capacity is ~190 GW; 310 GW more is needed in 6 years.
• Gujarat and Rajasthan have the largest renewable energy capacities of about 27GW each.

• Arjun Kadhe and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan claimed their first title together by winning the $82K Morelos Open in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

• Stefanos Tsitsipas has swept aside Casper Ruud to win the Monte Carlo Masters for the third time in four years.
• Stefanos Tsitsipas is a Greek professional tennis player.
• He has been ranked as high as world No. 3 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, which he first achieved in 2021.
• He has won 11 ATP singles titles.
