Tripura’s first international cricket stadium set to be ready by 2025.

• Tripura Cricket Association announced the inauguration of Tripura's first international cricket stadium in Narsingarh, located in the West Tripura district by February 2025.
• The northeastern state’s first stadium, a collaboration between BCCI and TCA with a budget of Rs 200 crore, will have a seating capacity for 25,000 spectators, marking a milestone in Tripura’s sporting infrastructure.

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan honored by McGill University.

• Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO’s former Chief Scientist, received an honorary degree from McGill University, Canada.
• Having served at WHO, her tenure included Deputy Director General (Programmes) and the organization's first Chief Scientist, through the Covid-19 pandemic.
• McGill University recognizes individuals for significant contributions to scholarship, science, arts, or public service etc.

Nitten Kirrtane bagged Mixed Doubles Silver & Men’s Doubles Bronze.

• Nitten Kirrtane bagged mixed doubles silver and men’s doubles bronze at the ITF Masters World Championship in Mexico City.
• Kirrtane reached the mixed doubles final with Isabelle Gemmel, ultimately losing to Bart Beks and Barbara Mulej.
• The ITF World Championships is the pinnacle of the International Tennis Federation World Tennis Masters Tournament.

85% SBI's hiring for PO & associates in FY25 are engineering graduates.

• SBI plans to recruit 12,000 employees in FY25, with 85% being engineering graduates, for roles as probationary officers and associates.
• The move aligns with SBI's investment in technology training to address the growing reliance on tech in banking services.
• Training for new hires will cover banking fundamentals before they are positioned in various business segments within the bank.

India, Oman to jointly undertake research on sharks and rays in Arabia.

• India & Oman joined forces to study & protect sharks & rays in the Arabian Sea. via a workshop at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute.
• Experts will meet to collaborate on research & train future marine scientists.
• The CMFRI is the national marine scientific authority for CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
