Global life expectancy to increase by almost five years by 2050.

• Life expectancy is expected to rise by 4.9 years for men and 4.2 years for women globally by 2050, as per a new study published in The Lancet.
• A study conducted by the Global Burden of Disease Study (2021), the research considers factors like income, education, and health risks across 204 countries and territories.
• The main reason for this increase is because of improving health facilities.

Southern sates in India will conduct Joint Elephant Census.

• A synchronized elephant census will be conducted from May 23-25 in the border areas of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.
• The census aims to understand conflict areas and enhance inter-state coordination for future planning and policy-making.
• Since 1986, the Asian elephant has been listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.

Elon Musk launches Starlink service in Indonesia.

• Elon Musk inaugurated Starlink in Denpasar, Bali, aiming to provide reliable internet to Indonesia's remote areas, benefiting millions in the archipelago.
