  • The UK has overtaken China to become India's 4th-largest export market, with exports growing by a third to $1.37 billion in May, compared to a 3% growth to $1.33 billion for China.
  • India's top 10 export markets, which now include the UK, showed positive growth in May, reversing a year-long trend of contraction.
  • Overall, India's merchandise exports grew by 9.13% in May, reaching $38 billion.


India becomes world's third-largest domestic airline market.

  • India has overtaken Brazil to become the world's third-largest domestic airline market with a 1.55 crore domestic capacity, growing by 11.2% this month.
  • Low-cost carrier IndiGo has driven this growth, doubling its market share to 62% since 2014, and the Mumbai-Delhi route is the eighth busiest globally.
  • In 2014 India was the smallest market with a meager 80 lakh domestic seats.


Kalash Gupta, IIT Delhi Student won World’s Largest Coding Competition.

  • Kalash Gupta, a CSE student at IIT Delhi, clinched the top spot in TCS CodeVita Season 10, with over 100,000 participants from 87 countries.
  • TCS CodeVita, recognized by Guinness World Records, is the world's largest programming contest.
  • The runner-ups were from Chile and Taiwan, with Gupta honored by IIT Delhi Director, Prof. Rangan Banerjee.


India to push 2036 Olympic bid and inclusion of indigenous sports.

  • India will advocate for its bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics during the upcoming Paris Olympics, aiming to include indigenous sports such as yoga, kho kho, and kabaddi.
  • The Sports Authority of India's Mission Olympic Cell has presented a detailed report to new Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, identifying 6 disciplines for inclusion: yoga, kho kho, kabaddi, chess, T20 cricket, & squash.


IISc Develops Device to Make Infrared Light Visible.
