India launched UPI payments at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, France.

• Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is an Indian instant payment system and protocol developed by the National Payments Corporation of India in 2016.
• The interface facilitates inter-bank peer-to-peer and person-to-merchant transactions.
• It runs as an open source application programming interface (API) on top of the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), and is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India.

Record Defence Production in India Reaches Rs 1.27 Lakh Crore.

• India’s defence production hit a record Rs 1.27 lakh crore in FY 2023-24, growing 16.7% from the previous year and 60% since 2019-20.
• The surge is attributed to government reforms, Make in India initiatives, and increased defence exports, which reached Rs 21,083 crore.
• DPSUs/PSUs contributed 79.2% of the production, with the private sector adding 20.8%.

PM's "NAMO Drone Didi" Scheme to empower women in agriculture sector.

• Under the initiative, rural women are trained to become drone pilots for agricultural purposes.
• The initiative aims to equip 15,000 women-led Self-Help Groups with agricultural drones to assist in tasks such as crop monitoring, spraying fertilisers and sowing seeds.
• The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, and the Department of Fertilizers oversee the scheme.

Global Conclave on Plastic Recycling was held at Bharat Mandapam.

• The Global Conclave on Plastic Recycling and Sustainability (GCPRS) aimed to address plastic waste management, recycling, and sustainability to promote circularity.
• The conference highlighted the expected growth of India’s plastic recycling industry to $6.9 billion by 2033, stressing the importance of regulatory compliance and technological advancements in managing plastic waste.
