India, Russia Set $100 Billion Trade Goal by 2030.

• At the 22nd Annual Summit, PM Modi and President Putin agreed to boost bilateral trade to $100 billion by 2030, using national currencies to bypass Western sanctions.
• This 1st meeting since the Ukraine war saw Modi urging an end to the conflict and addressing the discharge of Indians recruited by the Russian military.
• The Summit between India and Russia took place in Moscow on July 8-9, 2024.

Adani Group Named Principal Sponsor For Team India At Pairs Olympics.

• Adani Group announced as principal sponsor for Team India at the Paris Olympics 2024, launching the #DeshkaGeetAtOlympics campaign to support athletes.
• The campaign features a film highlighting athletes' dedication and aims to inspire patriotism as India prepares to surpass its 2020 Tokyo Olympics medal tally.
• Adani Group has supported over 28 athletes since 2016 in various sports.

Maharashtra announces free higher education for EWS, and OBC girls.

• The Maharashtra government will provide free higher education for girls from Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
• Tuition and exam fees for orphaned students will also be waived, costing Rs 906 crore, effective from the 2024-25 academic year.
• Maharashtra Chief Minister - Eknath Shinde.

IIT-Jodhpur to Offer BTech in Hindi and English.

• IIT-Jodhpur will offer BTech programs in both Hindi and English for the new batch of students.
• 1st-year students will choose their preferred language, with the batch divided into two sections accordingly.
• The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and includes remedial English classes to help students potentially transition to the English medium.

Soumya Swaminathan Named Principal Advisor to Union Health Ministry.

• Dr. Soumya Swaminathan appointed as Principal Advisor for India's National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme on a pro bono basis.
• She was the former Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization.
• She has previously served as the DG of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
• Swaminathan will also form expert groups, support health officials, and assess the program's impact.
