PM Modi Announces $1 Million Grant to UNESCO World Heritage Centre.

  • PM Modi inaugurated the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
  • India is hosting the World Heritage Committee Meeting for the 1st time which will continue till the 31st of July.
  • The northeast’s historic Moidam is proposed to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage.
  • It will be India’s 43rd World Heritage site and the first heritage of northeast India.


Assam’s Charaideo Maidam Nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Charaideo Maidam, featuring over 90 royal burial mounds, has been nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
  • Located 30 km from Sibsagar, it was the first capital of the Ahom dynasty, founded in 1253.
  • If selected, it will join Kaziranga and Manas National Parks as Assam's third UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Charaideo symbolizes the Ahom power, the place of origin of the royal Ahoms.


Supreetha becomes 2nd woman officer to be deployed at Siachen Glacier.

  • Captain Supreetha C.T. becomes the 2nd Indian Army woman officer and the first from the Corps of Army Air Defence to be operationally deployed at Siachen.
  • Shiva Chouhan was the 1st female officer to be deployed in Siachen.
  • The Siachen Glacier is located in the Eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayas.

Abhinav Bindra Will Receive The Olympic Order by IOC.

  • The International Olympic Committee announced the conferment of the Olympic Order on Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra.
  • Bindra will be given this honour at the award ceremony to be held in Paris on August 10.
  • Bindra is the second Indian to receive this honour.
  • Earlier, former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had received this award in 1983.
  • India's Sports Minister: Mansukh Mandaviya.


PGIMER Chandigarh to Launch India's First Medical Institutional Museum.

  • The ambitious project honours the vision of the late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then chief minister of Punjab supported by the first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru.
  • Prof Vivek Lal - Director of PGIMER.
  • Established in 1962 and granted autonomy under an Act of Parliament in 1967, PGIMER operates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
