India Secures Third Place in Global Forest Area Expansion: FAO Report.

• According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, India has made great progress in protecting forests.
• From 2010 to 2020, 266,000 hectares of new forest will be added each year.
• China and Australia lead the rankings, having increased their forest areas by 1,937,000 and 446,000 hectares respectively.
• Other countries in the top 10: Chile, Vietnam, Turkey, the US, France, Italy, and Romania.

Telangana launched unique model for TB-Free Municipalities.

• Telangana launched Project Swasthya Nagaram in Hyderabad to achieve TB-free municipalities, involving Peerzadiguda, Boduppal, and Pocharam.
• The project aims to reduce TB incidence and mortality by one-third over three years through surveillance, prevention, and quality TB care.
• Free medical care and family counseling are integral, involving multi-stakeholders including WHO India and USAID.

Ministry of Panchayati Raj set to launch "Gramoday Sankalp" Magazine.

• The Ministry of Panchayati Raj called for articles and success stories for the Gramoday Sankalp magazine, focusing on the theme Viksit Bharat and Role of Panchayats.
• The initiative aims to disseminate best practices and innovative grassroots approaches, with support from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Policy Planning Cell.

Arunachal Pradesh passed bill to prevent unfair means in exams.

• The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly passed the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination Bill, 2024, to curb irregularities in public exams with strict penalties including up to three years imprisonment and fines up to one crore rupees.
• The bill includes lifetime bans for convicted candidates and provisions for Special Courts and Grievance Redressal Cells.

• ALFA Hockey, Asia's leading manufacturer of field hockey equipment, launched the #BankeDikhaAlpha campaign to support India's national hockey team for the Paris Olympics.
