Assam's Charaideo Maidam is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- The mound-burial system of the Ahom dynasty-- Moidams -- was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, making it the 1st cultural property from the Northeast.
- The decision was taken during the ongoing 46th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) being held in India.
- These royal burial sites of the Ahom dynasty ruled over much of Assam and the North East from 1228 to 1826 AD.
Pakistan Eases Visa Policy to Boost Economy.
- Pakistan govt has decided to introduce visa-on-arrival for Sikhs holding passports from countries other than India.
- They are also exempting visa fees for travellers from 126 nations.
- Pakistani passport has retained its position as the 4th worst at the 100th spot, according to the Henley Passport Index.
- Pakistani citizens can travel to 33 nations without having a prior visa.
PM Modi launched the Shinkun La project, the world's highest tunnel.
- On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Modi launched the construction of the Shinkun La Tunnel project, set to be the world's highest tunnel in Ladakh.
- The 4.1-km-long twin-tube tunnel will be constructed at an altitude of approximately 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road.
- The tunnel, to be constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at Rs 1,681 crore.
Akshai Sarin Sets Record with World's Largest Musical Installation.
- Indian artist Akshai Sarin transformed Royal Caribbean's Spectrum of the Seas, a 1,100-foot cruise ship, into a playable musical instrument using Sonokinesis technology.
- This marks the first time a cruise ship has been converted into a musical installation, showcasing the potential of turning ordinary surfaces into interactive instruments.
