Hindustan Zinc Launches Asia's First Low-Carbon Zinc, EcoZen.

• Hindustan Zinc introduced EcoZen certified to have a carbon footprint under one tonne of carbon equivalent per tonne of zinc.
• EcoZen's carbon footprint is about 75% lower than the global average, aiding a 400 kg reduction in carbon emissions per tonne of steel galvanized.
• Hindustan Zinc aims to cut carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, with a commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

India Secures Operational Rights for Mongla Port Terminal, Bangladesh.

• India has obtained the operational rights for a terminal at Mongla Port in Bangladesh, marking a significant strategic victory over China.
• Mongla is Bangladesh’s second-largest seaport after Chittagong.
• Indian Port Global Limited (IPGL) will oversee the terminal operations.
• This move aims to counteract China’s influence in the Indian Ocean and reinforce India's role in regional security.

Dr. Jitendra Singh Receives Lifetime Achievement Award in Chennai.

• Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to diabetology at an international medical meet in Chennai.
• Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh was conferred in recognition of his exemplary dedication to the advancement of diabetology, diabetes care and diabetes research.

India's First Sunken Museum at Humayun's Tomb to Open.

• India's first sunken museum at the Humayun's Tomb complex in Delhi will be inaugurated on July 29, 2024, coinciding with the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
• Inspired by traditional baolis (water tanks), the museum showcases Mughal emperor Humayun's legacy with artefacts such as the 16th-century finial knocked off in a 2014 storm, farmans, and a 19th-century astrolabe.

Operalia, the Global Opera Competition, Debuts in India.

• Operalia will be held for the first time in India at Mumbai's NCPA from September 15 to 21, 2024.
• Founded by tenor Placido Domingo in 1993, the competition attracts top global opera talent and offers prestigious opportunities.
• The NCPA hosted Austrian maestro Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus and Hungarian composer Ferenc Erkel’s The Viceroy Bank.
